What an exciting time in my life! I'm in a new city and have a new job at a great television station!
I've been in town for about three weeks and Abilene already feels like home. People are so nice here. And my new friends at work have been amazing helping me get settled in at KTAB.
My mom has been in town for a couple of weeks helping me get settled into my new home. I bought a cute little house in town and am really enjoying getting it decorated. It's been hard becasue so far the movers have only delivered half of my stuff from Denver!
I'm anxious to get out and explore the Big Country. I'll be sharing some of my adventures with you, so if you have any suggestions on things and places I should see let me know!
Once a year, and it just so happens that it is this weekend, the local Amateur Radio Club has a "Field Day" at the Hamby Fire Department. This will take place from noon Saturday until noon Sunday, 24 hours straight. They will contact people from all over the world, hopefully on the Ham radios.
ReplyDeleteOn Saturday you would be most welcome to have a bar b que dinner with them that evening.
Since you are new in town, here's the directions: North on Hwy 351, runs in front of Walmart on I-20. After the road narrows down to 2 lanes start looking on the left for a big tin building with a large parking lot. The building will be white in color. You should see some antennas set up out there and various pieces of equipment. It is a great time to go out and see how we communicate with our many friends around the world. We also use ham radio when the weather gets really bad and the storm spotters are activated.
Have a good time!!
Welcome to Abilene. It is a great place to Live. If you do not have a church home I would like to invite you to Beltway Park
